A New Trick and Recent Pics

Isaac is constantly keeping us entertained with all of his new tricks. Lately everything he can grab onto goes into his mouth... And that includes his feet! He is quite flexible.

He just keeps growing and growing. He turned four months on Christmas day and has his next doctor appointment on Wednesday. We are interested to see what percentile he is in. At two months he was off the charts, and we imagine it will be similar news this time.

Isaac is a happy little guy. He is always smiling, talking and laughing.

Bed time seems to be getting later and later (he was wide awake until 10:30 tonight!) but once he is down, he will sleep anywhere from 9 to 12 hours straight. We feel very lucky to have such a good sleeper. But something more than just sleep is going on in there because when I come to get him in the morning, he has usually made a 90 degree turn in his crib (sometims he even makes it a full 180)! I'm still not sure how he does this. Nap time has gotten much better too. Two naps a day have become the norm and this has made life much easier for Mom.

Isaac and Cracker seem to like each other. Isaac thinks Cracker is funny and will smile and laugh at him. And Cracker likes to snuggle next to Isaac if we'll let him. They are my two little pals.

We recently put Isaac in his new jogging stroller for the first time. He loves being outdoors so he had a great time on our (slow) run. Now I really have no excuse not to get back out there and get in shape.

Being a mom has continued to get easier and more fun. I love everyday with my little Munchkin!

Rolling

Yesterday during Isaac's "tummy time" he made a big step in the world of baby development. He rolled over! I was so proud of him. I don't think he had any idea what was going on but I clapped and made a big fuss anyway. Then I ran to get the camera. And to my surprise, he did it again! So here is the photographic evidence of Isaac's big achievement.

Tummy Time...

Turns into a face plant...

Followed by some squirming and pushing...

TA DA!!! Isaac has rolled over!

And Cracker is our witness.

Isaac's Christmas Tree

We put a Christmas Tree in Isaac's room. (in addition to the one in our living room) He seems to enjoy the lights.

Sleeping through the night!

We finally moved Isaac to his nursery about 10 days ago. It took A LOT of convincing on Charlie's part before I was finally able to do it. I felt so bad leaving him all alone so far away from me (even though it is only about a 5 second dash from my bed to his crib).

The first night was tough. I was paranoid that I wouldn't hear him when he cried. And I didn't. Charlie actually had to wake me up! After that my ears became tuned to those far away sounds as opposed to his live and in person grunts that had previously been right next to our bed. For the next few nights I woke up about a million times and kept walking down the hall to check on him for no reason at all. I just wanted to make sure he was still there I guess.

Sure enough, he started waking up less and less during the night. Or in other words, I started hearing him less and less. For the past two nights he has slept 10 hours straight! It has been so nice to get a full nights sleep (even though I do still occasionaly wander down the hall at some odd hour).

And as for Isaac... it turns out he doesn't really like being swaddled. No matter how tight I wrap him up at night, this is what I find in the morning:

Cracker has been sleeping longer too. He used to jump out of bed and be so excited to go on his morning walk with Charlie. Now he is just lazy and refuses to get out of his bed in the morning!

Getting Bigger

Isaac is growing fast! He is a little over six weeks old now. On Monday we went to visit his new baby cousin in the hospital. She seemed so tiny next to Isaac. We can't believe how much he's grown.

Here he is at 3 days old...

And now six weeks later....

He's also developing a bad habit of only wanting to turn his head to the left. Forget about the toys hanging over his head, he'd rather turn and watch the arm of the swing!

Good Morning

I've started taking Isaac on a walk every morning. I must admit, this is more for my benefit than his (I still have some baby weight to lose), but it turns out he loves it too! We walk about 4 miles and he usually sleeps through most of it. I think the vibration of the stroller puts him to sleep. But when he wakes up he is always happy.

He is smiling more and more these days. It is really fun to have him actually smiling at US!

Isaac's Blessing at Church

On Sunday, we blessed Isaac at church. (In our church, instead of baptism, we bless the child as infants and when they are 8 years old- they are baptized.)
After the blessing at church, we had a brunch at our home with lots of family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Here is Isaac in his blessing outfit.

Here is a picture of the grandparents. (Strans on the left, Woods on the right)

4 Weeks Old Today!

Isaac is now 4 weeks old. He is a good baby. Last week he seemed to be hungry all the time and the past few days he has turned into a real good sleeper. He gets up once or twice a night. His favorite thing to do is lay on our bed and watch the ceiling fan!

More Pictures of Isaac

Isaac is a great baby.

Yesterday we went to the mall with Isaac. It was a hot day and we have a hot house. To escape the afternoon heat, we walked around the mall. Isaac slept the whole time.

Our dog, Cracker, is very gentle around Isaac. He has become a real protector. We normally keep them a few feet from each other, but as you can tell from this picture- Cracker likes Isaac. (although he is a little bit jealous)

I think this is a nice picture.

August 25, 2007 - Isaac Arrives

Irvine Regional Hospital- Irvine, California
7:30 AM - Arrive at Hospital for appointment to be induced

8:00 AM - Carrie relaxed, receiving Petocin via an IV (to help start contractions)

9: 30 AM - Strong contractions start. Epidural is given.

11:00 PM - Carrie is dilated to 4.5cm.

5:00 PM - Carrie is still dilated to 4.5cm. Doctors are concerned about little progress and 6 hours of petocin and strong contractions and recommend that we consider a C-Section

7:00 PM - Carrie is dilated to 5". Doctors are optimistic about progress.

8:30 PM - Carrie is dilated to 9.75". Baby Isaac is on his way.

9:53 PM - After 47 minutes of pushing, baby Isaac is born. He weighed 8 lbs, 12 ounces. He measured 23 inches long! He's healthy, beautiful, tall and lean and looks like his mom. (I think)

Here is Isaac about 10 minutes after birth- Calmed down, relaxed and cleaned-up.

Here's Carrie and Isaac shortly after. Carrie did a GREAT job!
